This is one gutsy lady. And ya know how I can tell? She's got one of the best rhythm sections I've ever seen and she stands up to them. Now when I say rhythm section, I mean a tight rock solid unit that moves as one, worthy of something out of Muscle Shoals. You don't see a lot of really rocking keyboard players on the strip and in Yeah Man she's got one of the best anywhere. When they broke into "Rock and Roll the Dice", it was get out of the way time, cause the band is coming through. With Yeah Man, hands bouncing off the keys like tennis balls, and Danny Dugan laying down the tastiest bluesy rock licks you can imagine, how could you not dance to this stuff? And everybody was dancing! Garner Knutson snaps and pops on drums, and background singer Gael MacGregor is so rich you have to rub your eyes to believe there's only one of her. Victor Sanchez on rhythm guitar and Yell on bass round out this unstoppable package. Even with all this going on behind her Torie had no problem stepping out and taking over. She's got a unique ballsy style and is not shy when it comes to getting down and telling it like it is. Other songs I liked included "Rock Will Never Let You Down" and "You Push Me Down", an anthem for the woman mistreated and done wrong. It is so refreshing to experience such extraordinary musicianship, especially at The Key Club, known for their exceptional sound mixes. Standing right in front of the stage you could hear every note clear as a bell, without being blasted away. A great lady, a great band, a great venue. How can you beat that?
